Types of WLAN
A.There are two kinds of WLAN,
One is (or calls for special type WLAN to equality WLAN), second is primarily
from type WLAN, In to equality WLAN in, each computer is loaded with a piece of
wireless card, each other may directly mutually the communication, but is
unable with the wired network to be connected, Only if a computer has to be
allowed to act as the bridge joint and the wired network is con
2.
What is IEEE 802.11?
A. The wireless network uses the
basic level technology must be able to process the radio wave type (Radio
Frequency) material transmission, The most used technique is the IEEE
802.11specifications in which it has defined the wireless network every
technical detail.
3. Can it mix with the different manufacturer radio equipment rep?
A. Basically, ao long as the manufacturer
equipment supports the WiFi authentication which WECA advocated. The different manufacturer equipment may be
mixed with each other interlock.
4.
If my computer belongs to
WLAN, will it also be able to use the wired LAN communication?
A. Yes, under having a bridge
joint installment between wired and the wireless network, it usually is a base
station (Access Point), including on wired network, acts as bridge joint
between all wireless computers and the wired computer.
5.
How many PC can a wireless base station served?
A. Some manufactures recommends
10, some recommends 100, it all depends on the manufacturers.
6.
Can it be installed by more then one wireless base station?
A. Yes, you may install two or
above base station and the wired network is connected, some wireless computers
on and base station segment, and some with another base station segment.
Moreover each wireless computer may all deposit and withdraw in the wired
network the resources (for example file server).
7. What is Roaming?
A. When there
are two or above base stations, and when some parts each others range of
service (Service Area) overlap. When the wireless computer moves from one base
station's range of service to another base station range of service, the
wireless computer segment will automatically cuts the segment another base
station, this is called roams.
8. Can we use WLAN to connect two Lans?
A. Yes, this kind of situation
needs two station bases platforms, each LAN need each base station, these two
base stations meet each other communication, then these two LAN will be
connected in the same place.
9. Is it true that WLAN is only useful to notebook computers?
A. Theoretically, it looks like
WLAN only comparatively has the use to NoteBook Computer and the running gear,
but WLAN the computer also very much has the use in fact to the table on. For
instance, said in certain situations, For example: When the old style building
or does not suit the wiring as well as the temporary display field situation,
WLAN on extremely has on the use, Therefore the WLAN flexibility is enormous.
10. How is the safety and security protection of the WLAN?
A. Because WLAN does not need to
have the line to be connected on internet, therefore it must need to have the
identification authentication mechanism and the encryption function. If any one
of these function is missing, anyone can easily pick up your package
information. The encryption mechanism
may use WEP or 802.1X,but it was heard that WEP and 802.1X have been decrypted.
11.
How does WKAN connect to the internet?
A. You connect
internet (eg. ADSL or cable modem) to you base station, then use this base
station to connect to all wireless computers then you will be connect to
internet. Another method is to connect
base station to wired LAN in one hub, and connect wired LAN to internet, adjust
some settings and all the wireless computers will be connected to the internet.
12. If I have two wireless base stations, How do I connect
them to use only one Internet segment?
A. If one of your WLAN is connected to the internet,
then all you have to do is to connect two base station with wired LAN, then all
of the wireless computers that is connected to these two base stations will all
be able to use the internet.
13. If my WLAN
accesses the net the border network, does my ISP also must have WLAN?
A. No, for WLAN to connect to the internet is almost
the same logic as using ethernet to connect to the internet. If you are using
Ethernet with 56K modem to connect to the internet, when you upgrade your
Ethernet to WLAN, you can still use 56K modem to connect to the internet.
14.
Can my network software distinguishes
the LAN in computer to be same as it distinguishes my wireless computer?
A.
Wireless lan card is the same as Ethernet lan card, each have its unique MAC
address, it will not contradict with the current MAC address, and internet
software will not be able to detect is the lan card your are using is wired or
wireless, it’s all the
same. Therefore, if a
wireless computer connects to inters, it will be recognized.
